While it is not standard to book a wedding venue before the official Engagement, some couples are happy to do just that if they find a venue they fall in love with & know they would like nothing more than to get married there.
Most couples discuss getting married well ahead of the engagement and the Bride to be knows that it will happen but she doesn’t know when her groom will pop the question.
The Summerlin House was fortunate enough to have experienced both of the above situations over the New Years weekend.
We offered our amazing “Pay it forward” New Years Special This past Friday morning. This special was ONLY for the 1st 50 brides to show up at 7 am. It was a $10,000 wedding package for $2500!!!
The first bride to show up at the wee hours of the early morning was Ashley,
she was a bride who had toured the venue and she and her boyfriend fell in love with The Summerlin House however, she was in fact a bride who was not officially engaged yet.
Her boyfriend Michael lives and works in Jacksonville and was unable to be there with her the morning of the New Years Special. Ashley told me that Michael would be traveling into Orlando for the weekend and asked if they could they come by over the weekend to walk the venue together at night…I said of course ( neither she nor I knew at that moment that her walk through on Saturday night would be a night she would remember forever. )
Michael called me later on Friday afternoon and this is when I found out he was as amazing as our special !! He told me that he would be coming in for New years Eve and would be in Orlando for the weekend and was popping the questions and giving her a gorgeous ring on Saturday New Years Day. He asked if he could do this at the venue.
I of course said absolutely… with his romantic ideas of what he would like to do for her we started to plan the proposal. I met Michael at the venue Saturday evening and he brought roses and a bottle of their favorite red wine. And of course that GORGOEUS RING!!! I hung pretty paper lanterns all over the back porch, set up a small bistro table and chairs and set up the wine with crystal glasses and the flowers for him. He had all the music on his ipod system which we set up in the corner for added romantic ambiance.
( P.S.~ Micheal knows a lot about music since he is the lead vocals in the rock band Fall of Envy which I will chat about later in the blog)
Late Saturday evening Michael brought Ashley to the venue where I had left the market lights on for them. He walked her through the courtyards and to the back porch which was all romantically set up where he popped the question! She had absolutely no idea and it was an amazing night for an amazing couple which I am looking forward to helping plan the Wedding Day of their dreams!

His guitar player will be playing acoustic guitar this Sunday January 9th from 5- 8 pm for our Wind Down Party after the I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl. Come join us for some relaxing by the firepit and free live music, coffee and hot chocolate and decedant desserts ! Perhaps we can get Michael to sing us all a love song since he and Ashley will be there!
Congratulations to Ashley & Michael ! We are so happy to have you here at The Summerlin House!
